The Position:
Client: Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – Office of Administration – Enterprise Technology Services Office (OA-ETSO)
Position Title: OA-ETSO – Linux Administrator TAS1 (760272)
Location: Hybrid; Remote Off-Site and On-Site in Harrisburg, PA
Duration: Initial term through 06/30/2025 (+ Annual Renewal in 1-Year Terms)
Note: Hybrid is at least one day on-site per week in Harrisburg, PA, but telework schedule can be subject to change. Candidates must currently reside in Pennsylvania, and within a reasonable commuting distance (1-hour/50-miles) of Harrisburg, PA. Current residency will be verified.
OA-ETSO is seeking a Linux Administrator;
Server Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Creating "golden" system images.
- Install and configure Linux OS using Satellite or CD.
- Container setup and deployment.
- Container administration.
- Building automated systems. Ansible automation of tasks.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
User Account Management:
- Setup user accounts and SUDO access.
- Setup group access.
- Implement security policies to protect sensitive data.
Maintain security:
- SELinux.
- FireEye.
Networking:
- Setup bonding and EtherChannel.
- Work with networking to resolve issues.
Backups and monitoring:
- Work with the backup team to back up the Oss.
- Work with the monitoring team to setup up alerting for the Oss.
Containerization:
- Maintain container environments.
- Migrate applications to Linux containers.
Documentation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations and procedures.
The Skills and Experience:
- Red Hat Linux experience
- Shell Scripting experience
- Experience writing Ansible playbooks
- Experience with VMWare
- ServiceNow Ticketing experience
- Cloud experience (Azure or AWS)
- Git Server experience
